I should really update this thing more often. I've been reading lots of good stuff, and since my last update there was Baycon and Trinoc*Con and lots of other stuff, but right now I'm in between a red eye from SFO to RDU and tomorrow's overnight from RDU to LGW (and hence to Worldcon), so I'm more interested in sleep.

However, it was necessary today to test the camera newly acquired for the Worldcon trip. And so, joining the grand tradition of Friday cat blogging, I am pleased to present, in her first ever appearance in the medium of digital photography, the real Sadie (not to be confused with the fake one in my usericon):

Awwwwww... kitty! she looks like my cat Frisky back in CT, who everyone thinks is a maine coon cat. We had her shaved one summer so she had the lion cut -- with only fur on her head, paws, and a tuft on the end of her tail.

Pretty kitty! :) She is a Maine Coone, yes? Did I ever tell you that one of kitties is also a Maine Coone? A classic brown tabby who looks similar to yours, though my kitty is not as brown.
Your Sadie's face is very similar to my Ashley's. :)

The person I got her from got her from the pound, so her exact breed is unknown, but she definitely looks a lot like a Maine Coone.

Pretty! I, unlike others who commented here, feel sure that this kitty isn't a full Coon. Am I right? My baby Lestat is probably half-Coon, and even that dilution obliterates much of the characteristics of the breed.

Since she's from the pound, Sadie's exact breed is unknown. I'd guess she's not fully Maine Coon just because it seems unlikely a purebred would be abandoned. She does have the little chirpy meow of a Maine Coon, though, which really sounds funny coming from such a big cat.

I can't stand it anymore.

What the heck do you do for a living? I mean, dude, you travel more than most salespeople I know. You must be an install engineer or consultant or something... right?

Yep, I'm a consultant, implementing ETL processes for large and/or complex data warehousing environments using Ab Initio. I live in Raleigh, the consulting company I work for is based in Chicago, and through December I'm at a client in Foster City, CA (which is halfway between San Francisco and San Jose). Since I really like coming home weekends, that does mean I'm racking up a lot of frequent flier miles.

I figured as much, though based on your voracious reading habits I pondered the idea that you might be some big-shot book reviewer, or publishing agent or something. :)

(Hmmm, telecom solutions...)

I've read the book reviews, 'cause I always read those first. Haven't gotten to the fiction yet, since my copy ended up stowed at the hotel in San Francisco while I was off in the UK for Worldcon, but I'm heading back to SF tonight, so it shouldn't be too long before I get to it.
